Early life
Sonia Kruger was born on 28 August 1965 in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia to Adrian and Margaret Kruger. She grew up on the Gold Coast with her brother, Adam, and sister, Debra. She left home when she was 17.
Education
Sonia completed her high school education at Beenleigh State High School. She furthered her education by obtaining an Arts Degree at the University of Technology.

Sonia Kruger made an impressive debut in the 1992 film Strictly Ballroom. She played the role of Tina Sparkle, a character that showcased her charm and talent in the AFI award-winning film.
Sonia joined the Seven Network reality dance competition series Dancing with the Stars in 2004. She launched her clothing range, Sonia Kruger Collections, in 2011.
Kruger became a host of the prime-time show Big Brother after joining the Nine Network in 2012. She hosted the Channel 9’s daytime talk show MORNINGS.
Her passion for performance began at a young age. She started her dancing career in Brisbane when she was four years old.
Sonia did Ballroom and Latin American dancing and has represented her home country in many competitions. She represented Australia at the Amateur British Ballroom Championships and holds the title of Australian Ballroom, Latin & New Vogue Professional Champion.

Personal life
Sonia Kruger was previously married to British banker James Davies in a private ceremony in 2002. They ended the union of six years in 2008.
Kruger began dating Craig McPherson, the executive producer of Today Tonight, in 2008. They both worked at Seven. She and her partner of 16 years, Craig, had been trying for a child for years through IVF and natural methods.
In August 2014, Sonia Kruger shared the exciting news of her pregnancy with the public. She had used an egg donation given by a female friend to conceive via in-vitro fertilization (IVF).
In 2015, Sonia Kruger and her partner Craig McPherson welcomed their daughter, Maggie, at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney. She is also a step-mother to her partner Craig McPherson’s children.
Her father, Adrian, passed away after a long and courageous battle with illness in 2015. Her mother, Margaret, celebrated her 80th birthday in 2023.
