David Sharaz (born 20 June 1991) is a former journalist and Canberra media adviser. He is publicly known for his close involvement in negotiating the public airing of Brittany Higgins’s story.
At the beginning of his media journey, David had a short stint on the Cash Cow on Network Seven’s Sunrise program. He has worked for the SBS and Sky News. He supported Higgins during the during the rape trial of Bruce Lehrmann.

Early Life
David Vaughan Sharaz was born on 20 June 1991 in Wrexham, north Wales, to an Indian father and a Welsh mother. He was put up for adoption after his mother thought that a new family could give him a better life than she would.
Jean, a Welsh woman, and Mo, an Indian man, became his adoptive parents and had adopted two children before him. As a family, they relocated to Australia. He says that his adoption still weighs on him.
His mental health has been affected by it, as well as his ability to make male friends. He turned out to be an indoor person who would cry for many hours. It grew worse until he decided to get help.
Education
David studied journalism at the University of Canberra. He did intern spells with the Canberra Times and the CNN.
Career
Among Sharaz’s roles in television was putting on the Cash Cow suit. He became the executive producer of the local Capital Radio Network and later as a political reporter at 2UE. He started to make important contacts within Canberra.
The former journalist has landed several job roles with Sky News Australia, SBS, and WIN TV. In 2015, he interviewed Katy Gallagher and became the breakfast newsreader with Canberra FM.
David returned to Sky News Australia to Peter Stefanovic’s breakfast program as a producer. He was a media advisor in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet for seven months. He got a job in a media analysis company in Canberra.
Sharaz resigned from his job with regional television and radio owner Southern Cross Austereo.
Personal Life
David Sharaz married a Labor staffer, Alexandra Craig. The duo had a wedding in March 2018 at Canberra’s Yarralumla Brickworks. David and Alexandra separated in January 2020. She kept the apartment, and Sharaz had to move to the Nishi building.
Mr Sharaz fell head over heels for Brittany Higgins when he first saw her in the Canberra studio. Their first date was 31 May 2020, and he proposed to Higgins at the iconic Cape Bryon Bay lighthouse in 2023.
David Sharaz tied the knot with Brittany Higgins in a glamorous wedding on the Gold Coast in 2024.
In 2021, Sharaz used his political and media contact to ensure favourable publicity for Higgins’ 2019 rape. They moved into a rental home on the Gold Coast worth $3 million.
