Emily Weir (born 1991) is an award-winning Australian actress. She is best known as Mackenzie Booth on Seven Network’s soap opera Home and Away.
Her first acting role was in the stage production Tartuffe, where she played Dorine. She won the Best Emerging Artist and Best Supporting Actress at the 2017 Matilda Awards.
Emily Weir was born in 1991 to Christine in Brisbane, Queensland, where she grew up. She has one brother, Tom, and was a dancer for over 15 years.
Education
Weir holds a degree from Queensland University of Technology. She had piano and singing lessons before venturing into acting.
Career
Weir landed her debut role as a maid Dorine in the stage production Tartuffe.
The role won her Best Emerging Artist and Best Supporting Actress at the 2017 Matilda Awards. She joined the cast of the Australian soap opera Home and Away on the Seven Network in 2019.
The actress made her debut on the show Home and Away on 13 June 2019, after landing the role of the new character Mackenzie Booth.
Weir entered as a contestant in the 12th season of Dancing with the Stars Australia in 2023, partnering with Lyu Masuda.
At the end of the season, she was the runner-up, behind Phil Burton, who emerged the winner.
Personal life
Weir once spoke about struggling with crippling anxiety. She eventually became an alcohol addict.
Emily revealed that she had ‘given up’ alcohol in 2020. She keeps her private life under wraps, and in the past, she has talked about previous relationships without naming her partners.
Her partner once paid for her to go to China for ten days. They visited the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.
Emily Weir dated someone when she was in Europe whom she met on a Contiki tour. She is friends with Tristan Gorey, who plays her partner on Home and Away.
