Early Life

Nicky Styris has a background as a fashion model. Her mother had always put her in modeling things when she was younger. 

Her father started Round the Bays in 1973 and is a member of the Auckland Joggers Club. She credits him for showing her, from a young age, the benefits of being active. She loved jumping around and flipping around, like any other kid.

Nicky was a trampolinist from a younger age, which she did for many years. Then she went off to university, but she always kept sport in her life. She became involved in trampolining after meeting someone involved with a club. Eventually, she was entrenched in the trampolining, though it was amateur at that time.

Former competitive trampolinist Nicky Styris holds a degree in Physical Education and a BA in history. She completed her degree at the University of Otago.

Styris taught history and physical education in a high school. She worked at Auckland Girls’ Grammar School for three years. After, she joined the broadcast industry as a sports journalist. 

The 56-year-old first worked as a sports reporter for TVNZ and later joined Sky TV as a host of the Sport 365 News show. She has been a sports journalist and television presenter for over 20 years. She went into journalism when she was 30.

Nicky Styris started working as a sports reporter for TV3 in 2016. She had taken a break to support her husband’s exciting Blackcaps career. She understands most sports, live sports event coverage, and studio presenting experience.

The TV presenter has been a frequent sports host on TV3’s AM Show. She has been the weekend sports news anchor at Newshub since 2018. 

Nicky has a background as a fashion model. She was the runner-up in the 1989 Miss New Zealand Universe pageant. Styris used to do modeling and stuff in Dunedin while at university.

Personal Life

Nicky Styris is married to former Black Caps all-rounder Scott Styris. Their wedding took place in a beachside ceremony at the Sheraton’s Denarau Island resort in 2010. She has two daughters.

The former trampolinist enjoys everything from running to football and touch rugby. She has been a constant at the gym for over 25 years.

Styris loves cooking and having dinner parties and would consider herself a ‘foodie’. She likes parties with her friends and her family.
