Rebecca Maddern (born 6 August 1977) is an Australian television presenter. She is best known for hosting The AFL Footy Show and host of Australian Ninja Warrior.

Maddern has hosted many tennis tournaments, including the 2019 Cricket World Cup and the 2019 Ashes Series in England. She has worked in Triple M, Fox FM, and Nova.

The 46-year-old is also a regular Emcee and function host and has presided over many corporate functions. She was named the patron of the children’s charity Cottage by the Sea in 2022.

Early Life

Rebecca Maddern was born on 6 August 1977 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Her father, Graeme, worked as a car salesman and owned a dealership, and her mother, Wendy, worked as a hairdresser.

Maddern grew up in Highton and on a farm in Ceres. She lived with her mother in Ceres, outside of Geelong. After her parents divorced, her father remained in Geelong and moved to Melbourne when she was a teenager.

Her parents had three children together before they divorced when Rebecca was two. She has two older brothers, Paul and Anthony. When she was four, her mother married her stepfather, Rex Gorell. She gained three stepbrothers – Paul, Brett, and Jason.

Education

From prep to year 11, Rebecca attended Morongo Presbyterian Girls College and The Geelong College for her final year. She was a McArthur House Prefect and received the Australian Studies Prize at The Geelong College.

In 1999, Maddern obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies from the Melbourne-based RMIT University.

Maddern hosted the opening night of Club Chin Chin at GMHBA Stadium in 2024.

Rebecca started her media career in radio after graduating from the university. She bagged a Quill Award for her coverage of the Victorian Bushfires in 2003.

She worked for Triple M Melbourne as a sports reporter. She moved to Fox FM and Nova, where she presented news.

Maddern joined Channel Seven as a reporter in 2003 and was a Sunrise correspondent. She covered the AFL Brownlow Awards night, the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the Melbourne Cup, and the Australian Open.

Maddern joined joined Nine Network in 2016. She has hosted Weekend Today, the Cricket World Cup, and Nine’s tennis coverage on the Australian Open. She also co-hosted Australian Ninja Warrior and The AFL Footy Show.

In 2020, Presenter Maddern started hosting Weekend TODAY alongside Richard Wilkins. She left Nine’s Weekend Today after almost six years in 2022. She co-presents Seven News Melbourne alongside Mike Amor.

Rebecca presents Seven Afternoon News in Melbourne. She has presented and reported at Seven Network for over ten years. She announced her return as the weekend co-anchor for Seven News Melbourne on Channel 7 in 2022.

Maddern is also a regular Emcee and function host and has presided over many corporate functions. and is an ambassador for a number of charities.

Personal life

Rebecca Maddern married James Wilson in 2006 and they split up in 2009. She met TV cameraman Trent Miller in 2009 and announced dating him in 2010. The duo was seen together in public for the first time at the Melbourne Cup in November 2010.

In March 2014, Maddern tied the knot with Trent Miller. He encouraged her to take on the role with The AFL Footy Show.

After two years of trying to get pregnant naturally and three rounds of IVF, Maddern welcomed her daughter, Ruby Mae Miller, on 12 April 2018.

Rebecca is an avid fan of Geelong Football Club and became the ambassador for the Geelong Cup in 2007. She was named the number one ticket holder for the Football Club in 2011.
