For decades, Sully is one of the most recognisable newsreaders on Australian television. She was the first journalist from Australia to break the news of the 11 September 2001 attack. She has been in the Ten News team since 1990.

Early Life
Sandra Sully was born on 18 February 1965 in Brisbane, the capital of the state of Queensland in Australia to Sydney and Carol Sully. She grew up in Queensland with her twin sister, Lyn, and her brothers, Brad and Chris. She completed her studies at Brisbane State High School in 1978.

Sully began to work as a journalist in the mid 1980s at Seven in Brisbane and also did a stint in Canberra. She became a presenter of Ten Eyewitness News Brisbane in the 1990s. She also presented Ten Eyewitness News Sydney 5:00 pm weeknight bulletin.
In 1991, Sandra became the newsreader on Ten Late News. She was the first Australian TV journalist to cover news of the 11 September terrorist attacks. She was the host of season two of the Australia’s Brainiest in 2005 and Cool Aid Australia’s National Carbon Test in 2008.
Sandra co-hosted the broadcast of the Melbourne Cup carnival for seven years. She is the first woman to fill the position. She and Journalist Matt Doran headed a police crime program, Wanted, in June 2013. They carried out investigations on unsolved crimes and interviewed those affected.
In 2015, Sully celebrated 25 years with Channel Ten. In 2018, she left the news studio behind and appeared as a celebrity guest on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Sandra presented 10 News First Sydney in 2018 and the Queensland bulletin since September 2020. She entered season five of the reality competition The Masked Singer as Fawn in 2023. After one performance, she was eliminated in the second episode.
Sandra Sully was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2024.
Personal Life
Sandra Sully married to corporate banker Symon Brewis-Weston in an elegant ceremony at the Sydney Opera House in 2011. Four years later, Sully and her husband tied the knot again in Las Vegas.
She is the step-mother to her husband Symon Brewis’ adopted Indonesian teenage daughter, Mia.
Sully was once married to onetime political adviser Mark Ryan. They were together for many years before getting married. But their marriage lasted for only a years and eight months.
Sandra and her husband sold three Broadbeach apartments at the Gold Coast auction. She has a tattoo on her tooth, “I have a tattoo on my tooth. I needed a crown and the ceramicist had a crush. Unbeknownst to me, he delivered my crown to the dentist with a daisy on it. It’s still there 20 years later.”
In 1997, A masked man attacked and put a gun to Sully’s head in the car park of her apartment block and shot twice but misfired. In 2023, she discovered some information about the police investigation into the attack.
